A Bit of Our History

Lyndon Baines Johnson, 36th president of the United States, was the most prominent graduate from Texas State University located just blocks from the Manske Roll Bakery. While the Manske Grill didn’t open until 1940’s and Johnson graduated in 1930, Johnson encountered the delightful creation on one of his numerous trips back to San Marcos for political functions. Once in office, LBJ had the delicious rolls sent to the White House, perhaps to enjoy a piece of his younger, less stressful days.

Great old school music, terrific service and of course spectacular food to grub on. Chili burger was delicious and the tater tots are nice and crisp. Definitely recommend if you in San Marcos!
